Job description

The Opportunity

At Huron, weโ€™re redefining what a consulting organization can be. We go beyond advice to deliver results that last. We inherit our clientโ€™s challenges as if they were our own. We help them transform for the future. We advocate. We make a difference. And we intelligently, passionately, relentlessly do great workโ€ฆtogether.

Are you the kind of person who stands ready to jump in, roll up your sleeves and transform ideas into action? Then come discover Huron.

Whether you have years of experience or come right out of college, we invite you to explore our many opportunities. Find out how you can use your talents and develop your skills to make an impact immediately. Learn about how our culture and values provide you with the kind of environment that invites new ideas and innovation. Come see how we collaborate with each other in a culture of learning, coaching, diversity and inclusion. And hear about our unwavering commitment to make a difference in partnership with our clients, shareholders, communities and colleagues.

Huron Consulting Group offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage to employees and dependents; a 401(k) plan with a generous employer match; an employee stock purchase plan; a generous Paid Time Off policy; and paid parental leave and adoption assistance.

Our Wellness Program supports employee total well-being by providing free annual health screenings and coaching, bank at work, and on-site workshops, as well as ongoing programs recognizing major events in the lives of our employees throughout the year. All benefits and programs are subject to applicable eligibility requirements.

Huron is fully committed to providing equal employment opportunity to job applicants and employees in recruitment, hiring, employment, compensation, benefits, promotions, transfers, training, and all other terms and conditions of employment. Huron will not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, national origin, religion, veteran status, physical or mental disability, genetic information, creed, citizenship or any other status protected by laws or regulations in the locations where we do business. We endeavor to maintain a drugโ€‘free workplace.

Position Summary

Huron is seeking a senior Business Development leader to expand our Healthcare Payer consulting practice, partnering with health plans to solve complex operational, financial, and transformation challenges.

This is a consultative, advisoryโ€‘led business development roleโ€”not transactional sales. You will work at the intersection of client strategy, executive relationships, and solution design, helping payer organizations navigate transformation while growing Huronโ€™s consulting footprint.

Youโ€™ll own the pursuit of netโ€‘new clients and strategic growth within existing accounts, engaging directly with senior leadership (Cโ€‘suite, SVPs, VPs) to shape and close highโ€‘value consulting engagements.

Why Huron

At Huron, youโ€™ll help healthcare organizations address some of the industryโ€™s most complex challenges, driving measurable improvements in performance, cost, and outcomesโ€”while advancing your career in a highโ€‘impact consulting environment.

Qualifications Responsibilities Drive Growth Through Consultative Selling
  • Lead endโ€‘toโ€‘end business development for payer consulting opportunitiesโ€”from market entry to deal close.
  • Use a diagnostic, advisory approach to uncover client challenges across areas such as operations, cost management, digital transformation, and performance improvement.
  • Translate clientโ€™s needs into tailored consulting solutions, partnering with Huron leaders to craft differentiated offerings.
Build Executive Relationships
  • Establish and expand trusted advisor relationships within payer organizations, including executive and senior decisionโ€‘makers.
  • Navigate complex stakeholder environments and multiโ€‘thread relationships across business and technology leaders.
  • Represent Huron at industry events, client meetings, and executive discussions to strengthen market presence.
Own the Full Pursuit Lifecycle
  • Develop and execute account strategies and pursuit plans aligned to growth targets.
  • Lead proposal development, executive presentations, and RFP responses.
  • Guide opportunities through internal alignment, pricing strategy, and contract negotiation.
  • Drive disciplined pipeline management and forecasting in Salesforce.
Collaborate to Deliver Integrated Solutions
  • Partner closely with consulting leaders to coโ€‘create solutions that span strategy, operations, technology, and analytics.
  • Position Huronโ€™s capabilities to support enterpriseโ€‘level transformation and longโ€‘term client relationships.
Success in this role means:
  • Building and sustaining a strong pipeline of qualified payer opportunities.
  • Converting opportunities into strategic consulting engagements.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted advisor in the payer market, not just a seller.
  • Driving both netโ€‘new client acquisition and longโ€‘term account growth.
Qualifications
  • Director: 8+ years | Senior Manager: 5+ years of business development in consulting, professional services, or healthcare solutions
  • Experience selling into healthcare payer / insurance organizations strongly preferred
  • Proven track record in a quotaโ€‘based, leveraged compensation model
  • Strong consultative selling and solutionโ€‘based approach
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • Engage executive stakeholders
    • Navigate complex deal cycles
    • Lead proposals and close multiโ€‘stakeholder engagements
  • Experience managing CRM pipeline and forecasting (Salesforce or similar) Preferred
  • Existing network within payer organizations or healthcare ecosystem
  • Experience selling:
    • Consulting services (strategy, operations, digital, performance improvement)
    • Multiโ€‘disciplinary or enterpriseโ€‘level solutions
  • Ability to position value in terms of ROI, outcomes, and transformation impact
Key Attributes Weโ€™re Looking For
  • Consultative mindset โ€“ asks the right questions before offering solutions
  • Executive presence โ€“ credible with senior payer leaders
  • Strategic thinker + doer โ€“ can shape deals and drive them to close
  • Relationship builder โ€“ thrives on networking, industry engagement, and longโ€‘term partnerships
  • Resilient and selfโ€‘directed โ€“ comfortable in a performanceโ€‘driven, commissionโ€‘based environment
Compensation & Structure
  • Competitive base salary + commissionโ€‘based compensation model
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, 401k, PTO)
  • Remote (U.S.) with travel as needed
