Job description

SUMMARY
Manage and assist in the completion of the day-to-day activities that manufacture products by supervising production workers and organizing and monitoring workflow. The employee exercises decision making and some discretion regarding specific procedures and work methods to complete given assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Accomplishes manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing policies, and procedures.
• Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
• Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
• Provide production updates and communication with production manager and the customer service team.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings/specifications.
• Prepare a backlog sheet for customer service and management.
• Print orders and bill of lading for production.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Maintains working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. (Applicable for VA only)
• Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
• Enforces and complies with all company rules, safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct performance appraisals, reviews and corrective action counseling as required.
• Work effectively with others in a team-based environment to accomplish company goals and to identify/resolve problems.
• Ability to multi-task and continually prioritize tasks to be completed as requires.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency, attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple complicated priorities/tasks.
• Ability to schedule production work and coordinate with shipping and carriers directly is must.
• Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job requires supervisory and leadership responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school/trade school diploma required with five (5) years related experience. Previous supervisory experience a plus. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, analytical problem solving, and multi-task-oriented skills a must.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Basic mathematic skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to supervise and work in a team environment and participate, contribute, and support all team activities. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Must be able to delegate and complete multiple projects to meet company/production initiatives/goals. Efficient in problem solving, ability to address obstacles, and adapt accordingly to meet deadlines to ensure production needs are satisfied. Good organization skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle to feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for the entire shift. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving machining equipment, moving mechanical parts, dirt, oil, grease, metal shavings and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and there could be the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud with exposures ranging from the 80db to more than 100db at certain times. Specified safety equipment shall be used at all times while operating equipment or performing tasks within this position.
