Job description

The Packaging Mechanic will support oral solid dosage (OSD) packaging operations through the setup, adjustment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated and semi-automated equipment. This role ensures that packaging lines operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with cGMP and FDA requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical aptitude, prior experience with pharmaceutical packaging systems, and the ability to perform real-time troubleshooting to minimize downtime and maintain product quality.

Responsibilities: Packaging Mechanic:
  • Set up, operate, and adjust OSD packaging equipment such as unscramblers, fillers, cottoners, desiccant feeders, induction sealers, labelers, outserters, and case sealers.
  • Perform changeovers for different products and configurations in accordance with approved setup sheets and SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform timely repairs to maintain line performance and reduce downtime.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and minor mechanical overhauls, documenting all activities in equipment logbooks.
  • Ensure full compliance with Master Batch Records (MBRs), SOPs, safety requirements, and cGMP expectations at all times.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, and Engineering teams to resolve deviations and equipment-related issues.
We are looking for applicants with: Packaging Mechanic:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; trade school or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Packaging Mechanic in a pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or GMP-regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical proficiency in operating, setting up, and troubleshooting OSD packaging lines.
  • Experience with bottle, blister, or pouch packaging equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cGMP, GDP, and FDA regulatory requirements for packaging operations.
  • Ability to interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and setup documentation.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
