    YOUR IMPACT

    Goldman Sachs Family Office is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial leader to grow a national insurance solutions practice tailored for Ultra-High-Net-Worth (UHNW) clients. This strategic role will focus on developing and delivering sophisticated traditional and private placement life insurance solutions, leveraging deep advance planning expertise.  The successful candidate will be instrumental in building a scalable business model, fostering key relationships, and ensuring the delivery of best-in-class insurance solutions that integrate seamlessly with our clients' overall wealth management and estate planning objectives.  We are open to locations outside of New York City.

    Private Wealth Management (PWM)

    Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management (PWM) specializes in creating comprehensive wealth management plans for high-net-worth individuals and families, as well as select institutions, including foundations and endowments. PWM Teams work one-on-one with clients to advise and deliver customized strategies drawn from our deep investment experience, diverse wealth management capabilities and global reach. Our Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs) deliver an unparalleled investment platform inclusive of the full product and service offerings of Goldman Sachs and beyond, which may include tax and estate planning, philanthropic planning and private banking and lending services. As client needs evolve, this close relationship allows the team to offer complementary services and new opportunities by leveraging the resources of Goldman Sachs and beyond.

    Goldman Sachs Family Office (GSFO)

    Goldman Sachs Family Office (GSFO) works in coordination with Private Wealth Advisors to develop strong ties with clients to deliver a full suite of wealth planning and family office services. 

    HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL 

    • Strategic Practice Development: Design, implement, and lead the national strategy for the insurance solutions practice, including market positioning, service offerings, and growth targets by partnering with the Ayco Wealth Strategies Group (WSG) team responsible for variable life and annuities brokerage to PWM clients
    • UHNW Insurance Planning Expertise: Serve as PWMs leading expert on advanced life insurance strategies for UHNW individuals, providing in-depth guidance to advisors and clients. This involves understanding the nuances of how life insurance products, including private placement life insurance and annuities (PPLI/PPVA), can be used for wealth building and protection, while adhering to regulatory frameworks.
    • Policy Reviews: Conduct reviews of existing policies to determine if the policy is performing as expected and serving the clients' goals. Provide independent, objective advice on potential gaps, planning opportunities and alternative solutions. 
    • Client Engagement & Advisory: Partner with Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs) and other internal stakeholders to advise UHNW clients and their families on complex insurance needs, developing tailored solutions that align with their financial goals, estate planning, and philanthropic objectives.
    • Business Development: Drive new business opportunities by identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective clients and strategic partners, including external advisors, attorneys, and family offices.
    • Property & Casualty (P&C) Support:  Coordinate access to best-in-class P&C insurance solutions for UHNW clients covering assets such as homes, vehicles, and excess liability - by partnering with external providers
    • Thought Leadership: Establish the firm as a recognized leader in UHNW insurance solutions through publications, presentations, and active participation in industry forums.
    • Insurance Broker Management: Evaluate, onboard, and cultivate relationships with best-in-class external insurance providers and carriers to ensure a robust and diverse suite of solutions for clients.
    • Private Wealth Advisor Education: Partner with Wealth Strategist to educate PWA teams and their clients on internal presentations regarding wealth transfer, income protection strategies and product updates
    • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all insurance activities comply with relevant state and federal regulations, industry best practices, and internal policies.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including Ayco WSG, wealth advisors, legal, tax, and operations, to deliver integrated solutions and a seamless client experience.

    EXPERIENCE & SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    • Bachelor's degree required.  Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, JD, LLM in Taxation or Estate Planning or PHD) is a plus.
    • Executive presence with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships at the highest levels.
    • Deep expertise in traditional and private placement life insurance, and advanced estate planning strategies utilizing insurance products.
    • A minimum of 10-15 years of experience in insurance solutions, with at least 5-7 years focused on UHNW clients.
    • Working knowledge of Property & Casualty insurance for UHNW clients is a plus. 
    • Relevant professional designations such as Charted Life Underwriter (CLU) are highly desirable.
    • Proven experience in building, managing, and scaling a team, particularly within a national practice context.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, lead cross-functional initiatives, and provide strategic counsel to sophisticated clients.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex insurance concepts clearly and persuasively to UHNW individuals and their advisors.
    • Strong business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit, and a proven track record of driving revenue growth and building profitable practices.
    • Comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks governing insurance products and sales.
    • Willingness and desire to travel, as necessary, given regional coverage of the role 
    • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7 & Series 63 exams (must be obtained within the first 3 months of employment)
    • Active Life & Health insurance license (must be obtained within the first 3 months of employment)

    Salary Range
    The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $115000-$270000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
