About the role:
CHANEL is looking for a Watch Repair Artisan to join our After Sales Team in Piscataway, NJ facility.
Reporting directly to the Manager, Watch Repair Center, you will provide support to the Watch and Fine Jewelry After Sales Service team and work closely with the coordinators to ensure smooth operations during the repair process. The role is responsible for physical testing, inspection, and diagnosis, repairs, maintenance, and total overhauls of client owned and CHANEL owned (stock) watches.
What impact you can create at CHANEL:
Watch Repairs:
  • Perform thorough physical inspection, testing, and diagnosis of client's CHANEL watches
  • Perform watch repairs by respecting the Maison's quality standards and standard repair procedures
  • Responsible for Battery Service, Maintenance and Total Revision Service of mechanical and quartz watches: disassembly, assessment, repair, cleaning, oiling, and assembly of mechanical movements.
  • Clean and polish internal and external watch components as needed
  • Assist with monitoring repair lead times, communicate possible delays to Manager or workshop coordinator.
  • Complete testing and quality control of all completed watch repairs including but not limited to time accuracy, average rate, beat error, amplitude, consumption, power reserve, and water resistance.

Maintenance of Claim Processing System and Spare Parts Inventory:
  • Update diagnostic and repair data in the claim management system, update consumption of spare parts for each repair
  • Pick parts and components needed for the repair
  • Support inventory control, replenishment of spare parts and repair materials

Communications for the US WFJ After Sales Service:
  • Suggest optional repairs or maintenance to extend the life or aesthetic look of the watch if needed
  • Communicate the final diagnosis and technical quotations to workshop coordinator
  • Provide and share technical knowledge in Watchmaking with team members
  • Follow any technical trainings provided by the Regional WFJ Trainer
  • Report all potential authenticity issues to management
  • Identify and report quality issues encountered while repairing items from stock and clients
  • Assist in developing and maintaining SOP for repair workshops to achieve both process and cost effectiveness
  • Work in accordance with Global guidelines and proactively making enhancements to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized repair workshop including the work areas, equipment, and tools

What you will bring to the team:
  • A proven competency of watch repair experience
  • Strong working relationship with our internal workshop and global repair network
  • Collaboration with the workshop staff to maintain stock in first quality condition, including battery updates and light polishing of watches.
  • Confidence and professionalism within a luxury brand environment.
  • Responsibility for logging in repairs, follow up all stages of the process, manage the spare parts inventory as well as undertake quality management of pieces in stock.
  • A good understanding of equipment needed to perform tasks and carry out basic checks to ensure machines and equipment are maintained in good working order and highlight any issues in a timely manner.

Position Logistics:
  • Work-Place Essential: This role requires 5 days in person at the designated location/office.
  • 5+ years' experience in repairing luxury timepieces (diagnostics, battery replacement, etc.) and basic experience with the 18K gold polishing
  • High level experience with repairing mechanical movements, automatic chronographs, and quartz movements
  • Formal training in watchmaking or equivalent experience
  • Problem-solving skills, proactive mentality, willingness to learn and grow
  • Computer systems literate and able to enter data for claims and projects
  • Good understanding of equipment needed to perform tasks and carry out basic checks to ensure machines and equipment are maintained in good working order
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, patient, punctual
  • Work collaboratively and be a team player
  • Standing/lifting to 20 lbs
  • The role is full time, 40h work week, Monday - Friday schedule

Compensation:
  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is $28 through $42. Base salary is one component of the total compensation for this position. Other forms of variable pay [may/will] be offered for this position. Other components [may/will] include bonus potential, benefits, and/or perks.
