Enphase Energy Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Electrical Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Electrical Engineer, you need a solid grounding in electrical theory, circuit design, and problem-solving, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, and PLC programming, as well as certifications like the Professional Engineer (PE) license, are highly valuable. Strong communication, teamwork, and attention to detail help you collaborate effectively and ensure accuracy in complex projects. These skills and qualifications are crucial for designing reliable systems, meeting project requirements, and ensuring safety and efficiency in electrical engineering roles.

What are some common challenges electrical engineers face when working on multidisciplinary teams?

Electrical engineers often collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and civil engineers on large projects. One common challenge is ensuring clear communication, as each discipline may use different terminology and design approaches. Electrical engineers must also coordinate timelines for component integration and resolve any conflicts in technical specifications. Developing flexibility and strong teamwork skills helps electrical engineers navigate these challenges and contribute effectively to successful project outcomes.

What are electrical jobs?

Electrical jobs refer to positions that involve working with electrical systems, components, and devices. These jobs can include roles such as electricians, electrical engineers, and technicians who install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. Electrical professionals are responsible for ensuring that electrical systems operate safely and efficiently, following building codes and safety regulations. The field offers various specializations, including power systems, control systems, and electronics.

What is the difference between Electrical vs Electrician?

AspectElectricalElectrician
CredentialsTypically requires technical training or certification in electrical systemsRequires licensing or certification to perform electrical work
Work EnvironmentDesign, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems in various settingsHands-on installation, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical systems
Industry UsageUsed broadly in engineering, construction, and manufacturing sectorsPrimarily in construction, maintenance, and residential/commercial electrical work

Electrical refers to the field or profession involving electrical systems, often encompassing design and planning. Electrician is a specific trade role focused on installing and repairing electrical wiring and systems. While both work with electricity, Electrical is broader, and Electrician is more hands-on and certification-dependent.

Founded in 2006, our innovative microinverter technology revolutionized solar power, making it a safer, more reliable, and scalable energy source. Today, the Enphase Energy System enables users to make, use, save, and sell their own power. Enphase is also one of the most successful and innovative clean energy companies in the world, with more than 80 million products shipped across 160 countries.
Join our dynamic teams designing and developing next-gen energy technologies and help drive a sustainable future!
    About the role
The Enphase Power Systems Innovation team in the Office of the CTO is responsible for defining, prototyping, and supporting next-generation system hardware solutions for Enphase products. The team is an integrated, multi-disciplinary group that is fast-moving and collaborative, focused on delivering high-quality hardware from concept through validation.
Enphase Energy is seeking an electrical engineer who is also highly capable in hands-on lab technician responsibilities, lab management, and testing. This role combines lab operations leadership with direct execution in soldering/rework, PCBA kitting, prototype mechanical assembly support, test assistance, and procurement for both lab and PCBA builds. This position also offers career growth opportunities into PCB layout support and wire harness diagram creation.
    What you will do
    • Lead day-to-day lab operations, organization, readiness, and workflow coordination across engineering activities.
    • Maintain safe, clean, and efficient lab spaces, tools, and equipment.
    • Procure parts and consumables for lab operations and prototype activities.
    • Execute engineering test and data post processing
    • Procure components for PCBA builds, including sourcing support and shortage follow-up.
    • Perform and coordinate parts kitting for PCBA builds with BOM alignment and traceability.
    • Perform hands-on technician duties including electronic assembly, soldering, and rework of prototype hardware.
    • Execute soldering and rework to IPC-A-610 Class 2 workmanship expectations.
    • Perform fine-pitch soldering and rework on packages including >64-pin QFP, bottom-leaded devices (QFN/DFN), and 5x5 MOSFET packages.
    • Assist with mechanical assembly and integration of prototype systems.
    • Assist with test setup, test execution, data capture, and troubleshooting support.
    • Maintain clear build, test, and material status documentation.
    • Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and test engineers to support schedule and quality goals.

Who you are and what you bring
    • BS/AS or equivalent technical experience in electronics, engineering technology, or related field
    • 4+ years of experience in electronics lab operations, technician work, or prototype build support
    • Proven hands-on experience in soldering, electronic assembly, and rework
    • Familiarity with IPC Class 2 assembly and rework processes
    • Demonstrated capability with fine-pitch packages, including >64-pin QFP, bottom-leaded devices, and 5x5 MOSFET packages.
    • Experience with PCBA kitting, component handling, and build preparation
    • Experience supporting mechanical assembly and prototype integration.
    • Experience assisting with electronics test execution in a lab environment
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion with high quality

    Additional desired skills
    • Familiarity with BOM management and prototype build control.
    • Basic experience with wire/cable documentation and harness-related assembly workflows.
    • Exposure to PCB design tools and PCB layout workflows.
    • Interest in career development toward PCB layout support and wire harness diagram creation.
