    DCOMM has over 20 years of experience building and supporting broadband infrastructure across multiple states. We specialize in fiber, coax, aerial, and underground construction. As demand for high-speed connectivity continues to grow, we are expanding our underground construction teams.

    Position Overview


    The Underground Construction Operator / Locator is responsible for safely operating underground construction equipment and performing utility locating to support fiber and coax deployment projects.


    This role requires experience with directional drilling, trenching, and underground utility locating. The ideal candidate understands bore plans, utility clearance requirements, and job site safety standards.


    This is a hands-on, outdoor role working in varying weather conditions.

    Requirements

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate directional drills, mini-excavators, trenchers, and related underground equipment
    • Perform underground utility locating using locating equipment
    • Interpret bore plans, construction prints, and locate markings
    • Verify existing utilities prior to drilling or trenching
    • Maintain required clearances and comply with 811 and state regulations
    • Perform potholing and daylighting as required
    • Support fiber placement and conduit installation
    • Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
    • Follow all DCOMM and OSHA safety standards
    • Maintain clean and organized job sites

    Qualifications

    • 1+ years of underground construction experience
    • Experience operating directional drill equipment preferred
    • Experience locating utilities using standard locating equipment
    • Knowledge of 811 process and utility clearance standards
    • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain)
    • Ability to pass background, MVR, and drug screening
    • Ability to work outdoors and lift 50+ lbs

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in fiber or telecom construction
    • Experience with HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling)
    • Ability to read and interpret bore profiles
    • Experience working around gas, electric, and municipal utilities
