Position Overview

The CLS Lawn Care Spray Technician is responsible for fertilization, integrated pest management, and weed and fungi controls for trees, shrubs, and lawns on client properties using various equipment including spray and injection tools, while providing excellent customer service; and safely operating vehicles and equipment. This is a seasonal position, depending on the regional location.

Job Duties

• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides to client properties using various equipment.
• Measure, mix, and prepare chemical solutions for trees, shrubs, and lawns.
• Follow work order specifications and maintain proper documentation, including pesticide labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Inspect worksites for underground utilities and installations, and set up traffic control and vehicle safety measures.
• Diagnose plant diseases and determine appropriate treatments.
• Operate and maintain sprayer equipment, including loading materials, filling tanks, and ensuring machinery efficiency.
• Adhere to safety regulations, use safety equipment, and safely handle materials.
• Perform site clean-up and maintenance tasks.
• Communicate with clients about diagnoses and treatments.
• Keep daily application records and time reports.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age to work in the field.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to operate equipment as a Department of Transportation (DOT) certified driver for specific vehicles or equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License. Class B CDL valuable, but not required.
• Successful completion in the Davey Tree Qualified Plant Health Care Technician training program as a plant heath care technician or the ability to obtain qualification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to complete required safety courses.
• Applicator licenses acquired as necessary per state requirements.
• Ability to operate mobile power equipment.
