Job Description:
Grata is the leading private market dealmaking platform. We make it easy to find, research, and engage with private companies. Our platform has the most comprehensive, accurate, and searchable proprietary data on private companies, their financials, and their owners.
We help leading investors (PE/growth), investment bankers, management consultants, and corporate development teams discover and win more deals. Grata has over 700 customers and has been widely recognized as the market leader by G2, PE Wire, and more.
We're looking for an experiencedSenior Product Manager, AI Search & Discovery to lead the development of Grata's core discovery engine - how dealmakers search, explore, and build conviction on the right companies. In this role, you will define, strategize, implement, and optimize AI-native search and discovery workflows.
As a Senior Product Manager at Grata, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deeply understand customer needs, prioritize the highest-impact opportunities, and work closely with engineering to deliver high-quality experiences. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our AI-powered discovery experiences adhere to industry standards, maintain reliability and trust, and scale effectively with the evolving needs of our growing business.
We are looking for someone who takes initiative, excels in a fluid environment, and transforms ambiguity into clear solutions. The ideal candidate is deeply customer-obsessed, ensuring that their work consistently aligns with and addresses customer needs.
If you're passionate about building innovative products, shaping the future of AI-native search and discovery for private markets, and driving real impact for dealmakers, we'd love to hear from you.
Grata is a hybrid company, which means our employees work from our NYC office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
At Grata, we will expect you to:
  • Build a deep understanding of customer needs, pain points, and behaviors by partnering with commercial teams and conducting user research and data analysis
  • Develop strategic roadmaps with clear milestones and measurable metrics to achieve ambitious goals and track progress effectively
  • Work across design, engineering, data science, QA, and product marketing to define and ship the roadmap for external facing semantic search, ranking, recommendations, and LLM/RAG-powered discovery workflows
  • Prioritize initiatives ruthlessly using a data-driven approach to maximize impact and deliver customer value - balancing quality, latency, cost, and reliability in production AI systems
  • Craft detailed requirements informed by customer conversations, usage data analysis, and iterative feedback from design and engineering teams - translating needs into clear specs
  • Establish yourself as the go-to expert and trusted leader for Search & Discovery quality, building credibility through ownership, measurable improvements, and continuous iteration
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and executive stakeholders, distilling complex AI search concepts into clear insights that drive alignment across the organization

What we are looking for:
  • 4+ years of search product management experience and 1+ year of experience within private capital markets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain tradeoffs and outcomes clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience developing a vision and roadmap for an area of a product - ideally Search, Discovery, Ranking, Recommendations, and/or AI/ML-powered workflows
  • Experience building high-quality, successful products with design, data science, and engineering teams, including launching and iterating using measurable KPIs
  • Experience performing customer research to better understand your customers and uncover their true needs around search intent, relevance expectations, and decision-making workflows
  • Can partner and influence effectively across all levels of an organization, and regularly use these skills to improve the work going on around you
  • Experience in a prior startup or high-ambiguity environment; a track record of managing ambiguity and complexity affecting many stakeholders in an organized and structured way
  • Experience with data analysis (using SQL/R/Python), metrics, and goal-setting - you've defined and owned metrics for search relevance and discovery success (offline and online)
  • Interested in an office-centric culture with a flexible work environment

Nice to have:
  • Vector search/embeddings, hybrid retrieval, reranking, query understanding, or ANN indexing experience
  • ElasticSearch/OpenSearch (or similar) familiarity
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI evaluation/monitoring (goldens, rubrics, regression, drift, hallucinations, prompt injection)
  • Familiarity with AI governance basics (PII, access control, auditability)
