    Job description

    Machinist - Large CNC Vertical Lathes 3rd Shift
    With our continuing growth, Curtiss Wright is looking to add experienced Machinists to our new, state-of-the-art Summerville, SC (Charleston) facility!
    This is a great opportunity for those with a strong CNC machining background and experience with Large Vertical Lathes to join CW's efforts to support the United States Navy and commercial customers.
    Location: Summerville, SC (Greater Charleston)
    Shift: 3rd (11pm-7am)

    Hourly: $28.70 - $41.49 (With an additional shift premium)

    Your Challenge:
    • Set up and operate large vertical turret lathes to perform precision machining to tolerances within 0.001
    • Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements
    • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications
    • Select appropriate tooling and materials for each job
    • Maintain machines, perform minor repairs, and report mechanical issues to maintenance
    • Monitor the machining process and make necessary adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling
    • Document production and inspection results accurately
    • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment

    Your Expertise:
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent is an asset
    • Minimum of 3+ years in CNC machines experience operating vertical lathes
    • Experience operating Fives/G&L 1600, 2000, and Momentum 2500 is preferred
    • Ability to maintain acceptable quality and efficiency level and effectively communicate with others
    • Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting 10 feet
    • Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals
