Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring an experienced CNC Rotor Technician for an oil and gas downhole drilling motor components manufacturer in Houston, TX. This is a temp-to-hire position paying $22–$27/hr depending on experience. In this role, you will set up and operate Weingärtner CNC rotor milling equipment to machine precise helical and contoured rotor profiles to tolerances of ±0.003 inch per side, then inspect finished rotors using a CMM and contour-measurement software. This is a specialized machining role working with high-strength materials like 17-4 PH stainless steel on components used directly in oil and gas drilling operations.


Pay: $22–$27/hr

Schedule: Monday to Friday 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM

Location: Houston, TX

Responsibilities

  • Load, position, secure, and align rotor workpieces in the Weingärtner CNC milling machine and run machining cycles for helical and contoured rotor profiles.
  • Set up and operate Weingärtner CNC rotor milling equipment to machine precise helical and contoured rotor profiles.
  • Load, position, secure, and properly align rotor workpieces in the CNC machine.
  • Set machine parameters, tooling, offsets, feeds, and speeds according to production requirements.
  • Monitor machining operations and adjust as needed to maintain tight tolerances and quality standards.
  • Machine rotor components to tolerances as tight as ±0.003 inch per side.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Operate or assist with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspection and contour-measurement software.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.


Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years of CNC machine operation experience operating Weingärtner CNC milling equipment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating large-format or specialty CNC milling equipment such as Weingärtner, Boehringer, or similar.
  • Background machining oil and gas components, downhole tools, rotors, shafts, or other large precision-machined parts.
  • Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation or contour-measurement inspection software.
  • Familiarity with corrosion-resistant or high-strength materials such as 17-4 PH stainless steel.
  • Experience with chrome- or tungsten-carbide-coated components or finishing processes.
  • Experience machining to tight tolerances on multi-axis CNC mills or complex CNC milling equipment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications.
