Job Summary

Looking for a nursing assistant position in a peaceful, supportive environment?  

St. Luke Lutheran Community is seeking compassionate State-Tested Nursing Assistants (STNAs) to join our team at our beautiful Portage Lakes campus, located right near Turkeyfoot Lake in Akron, Ohio. Our campus offers a smaller, close-knit setting with lower-acuity residents, allowing our caregivers to spend more meaningful time with those they serve. If you’re looking to work in a calmer environment with a strong team culture, St. Luke may be the perfect place for you.  

STNA Schedule (8 Hour Shifts)
  • Part-Time Days: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Full-Time / Part-Time Evenings: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

  • Part-Time Nights: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required.

Availability of preferred shifts will be confirmed during the interview process and may change based on staffing needs.

STNA Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on care to residents including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.  

  • Monitor and document residents’ vital signs, physical condition, and emotional well-being.  

  • Report changes in condition promptly to licensed nursing staff.  

  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, ambulation, and positioning.  

  • Support meal service and assist residents with feeding when needed.  

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.  

  • Communicate effectively with the nursing team and interdisciplinary staff.  

  • Promote dignity, compassion, and respect in every resident interaction.  

STNA Requirements
  • Active State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification in Ohio.  

  • Long-term care experience preferred.  

  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to resident care.  

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.  

Additional Employment Requirements

Candidates must complete:  

  • Pre-employment physical  

  • BCI fingerprinting background check
