Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding market presence for Colours Inc. by identifying new opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and building strong, long-term client relationships. This role manages the full business development cycle from prospecting and proposal development through negotiation and account transition while positioning Colours Inc. as a trusted partner.
Working cross-functionally with internal teams, the Business Development Manager ensures client needs are aligned with service delivery and organizational capabilities. Success in this role requires strategic thinking, strong relationship-building skills, and a results-driven approach to growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities to drive revenue growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, prospects, and key decision-makers.
- Conduct market research to identify industry trends, competitor activity, and new opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver persuasive proposals and presentations tailored to client needs.
- Negotiate terms and close deals that align with company goals and profitability targets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure seamless execution and client satisfaction.
- Track and analyze sales performance metrics to guide business strategy and meet targets.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred – equivalent experience considered.
- Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management – preferably in a related industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present confidently at all levels.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Proficient in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Willingness to travel regionally, including overnight stays as needed
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in route delivery required; warehouse or distribution is a plus.
- Good communication skills and a strong customer service mindset.
- Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently
Key Competencies:
- Demonstrates strong safety awareness and adheres to all DOT, traffic, and company safety regulations.
- Provides excellent customer service; courteous, professional, and responsive at all customer touchpoints.
- Manages time efficiently and can adapt to changes in routes or delivery schedules.
- Communicates clearly with warehouse staff, dispatch, and customers.
- Works well in a team environment and is willing to assist in warehouse operations as needed.
- Comfortable with basic technology tools, such as handheld devices, routing apps, and delivery logs.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and performing delivery tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintains a clean driving record and always represents Colours, Inc. in a professional manner.
