Job description

Job Title: Network Architect Location: East Hartford, CT (100% Onsite, Mon-Fri) Job Type: 6-Month Contract (with extension potential) Work Authorization: US Citizens Only Our client, a leading IT Services organization supporting commercial and federal clients, is seeking a Network Architect to lead the design, architecture, and technical direction of a modernized Cisco-based WAN/LAN/WLAN infrastructure. This role requires a strategic leader capable of translating business, compliance, and judicial requirements into a secure, scalable, and resilient network architecture.
  • Define the overall Cisco-based network architecture strategy and modernization roadmap.
  • Design WAN, LAN, WLAN solutions that ensure scalability, performance, and security.
  • Develop network documentation: topology diagrams, design standards, configurations.
  • Ensure secure integration with state, local, federal agencies, and cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with project managers, cybersecurity, and engineering teams to meet compliance (CJIS, NIST, etc.).
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies for resiliency, performance, and security.
  • Provide guidance on DR/BCP, high-availability, and performance optimization.
  • Lead escalations during design, testing, and deployment phases.
  • Mentor engineering staff on design principles and best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • US Citizenship (required for role).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering/architecture.
  • Deep expertise with Cisco technologies (routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, VPN, security).
  • Proven experience designing multi-site WAN/LAN/WLAN infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of cloud/hybrid connectivity and secure third-party integration.
  • Strong understanding of compliance/security standards (NIST, CJIS, CIS).
  • Experience in highly regulated or government/public sector environments.
  • Strong documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, CCDE, or equivalent.
  • Experience with judicial, law enforcement, or public sector networks.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN, Zero Trust, and network segmentation.
  • Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
