Job description

Citizens is seeking a junior Corporate Finance Associate to support senior professionals focused within the Transportation & Logistics, Industrial Distribution, and Waste sectors. The Associate position encompasses client advisory services including the origination and execution of M&A, leveraged finance and ECM transactions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing investment banking platform with market leading positions in middle market corporate and sponsor backed transactions complemented by strong public equity research. As an Associate, responsibilities will include client development support, formulation of pitches encompassing strategic and capital markets advice, and involvement in execution of transactions from origination through closing. You will thrive in this role through your ability to work on multiple projects and transactions concurrently, and you will work directly with senior professionals supporting acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, dividend recapitalizations, restructurings, refinancings, and equity raises. Additionally, you will be responsible for supervising and developing analyst level bankers. 

Primary responsibilities include

  • Assists in the evaluation and execution of assigned investment transactions, including M&A, securities issuance, capital restructuring, etc.
  • Provides financial analysis reports for investment transactions.
  • Prepares marketing documentation such as pitch materials and board and management presentations.
  • Drafts memorandums and road show presentations for client companies.
  • Working with Managing Directors, Vice Presidents, Associates within the Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets and M&A product groups, Sponsor Coverage and Corporate Banking relationship teams to develop new business ideas, pitch strategies or transaction financing scenarios to help corporate clients and financial sponsors achieve their financial and strategic objectives.
  • Performing extensive financial statement modeling for a variety of transaction scenarios.
  • Conducting comprehensive company and industry research.
  • Analyzing financial model output and client information to prioritize data and present conclusions for discussion purposes.
  • Coordinating with senior bankers to provide indicative transaction structure and pricing guidance based on financial model and comparable transaction analysis.
  • Preparing pitch materials for client meetings.
  • Manage transaction screening and credit / underwriting approval processes and all required documentation, analysis, and meetings.
  • Playing a key leadership role throughout the transaction execution process.
  • Participating in accounting, business, and legal due diligence.
  • Working with legal counsel and clients / financial sponsors to draft and negotiate legal documentation.
  • Preparing detailed transaction marketing materials including confidential information memoranda, ratings agency presentations, and lender / roadshow. management presentations.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • 3+ years of direct experience with proven client interaction and Investment Banking, M&A, Corporate Finance, Leveraged Finance or Capital Markets experience
  • Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record from a leading university. All concentrations considered given level of industry experience
  • MBA a strong plus, but not required given level of experience
  • Attendance in a formal investment or corporate banking training program preferred, but not required
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with related financial services software including S&P CapitalIQ, S&P Leveraged Commentary, Advantage Data, Bloomberg, Thomson One, Thomson Loan Pricing Connector, FactSet, etc.
  • FINRA Series 79 (or 7) and Series 63 and /or willingness to obtain licenses in a short timeframe

  • Hours per Week:  40+ 
  • Work Schedule:    Monday to Friday 

Pay Transparency         

The salary range for this position is $170,000 - $175,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus.  Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, relevant skills, and experience.
