Job description

CDR General Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Fitter Helper (Fabrication Assistant) to join our fabrication team in Port Allen, LA. This is an entry-level to semi-skilled position that supports fitters and fabrication operations by assisting with material handling, tool preparation, surface preparation, cutting, and fit-up activities. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and willing to learn and develop skills in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
Job Details
  • Location: Port Allen, LA 70767
  • Job Type: Temp to Hire
  • Pay Rate: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour (Depending on experience)

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in fabrication, welding, metalworking, or general labor preferred
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Experience using angle grinders, sanders, wire wheels, or similar tools is a plus
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure
  • Basic understanding of steel fabrication and material handling preferred
  • Ability to assist with cutting, grinding, deburring, and material preparation
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
  • Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a fabrication team

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials as required
  • Ability to work standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a fabrication/shop environment
  • Must follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Ability to work around heavy equipment, steel materials, and power tools
  • Must be willing to assist with various fabrication and shop duties as assigned
