Job description

Overview

Sugarloaf is seeking to hire a full-time, year-round experienced Lift Maintenance Technician to join our team. We are seeking detail-oriented candidates who are willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions, day or night, for this role. Lift Maintenance Technicians install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot lift equipment as well as assist lift operations with the start up and shut down of the lifts daily. They also read diagrams and manufacturers’ manuals, fit bearings, rebuild sheave trains, service grips and perform other mechanical procedures requiring specialized training.

Candidates must be able to work at great heights and should have at least 3 years of lift maintenance experience. This role will typically work a 4 day week with 10 hour shifts and overtime as needed.


Responsibilities
  • Safely navigate various motorized vehicles such as work trucks, snowmobiles, loaders, and four-wheelers to access lift operations.
  • Scale and maintain lift towers of varying heights (estimated between 6ft-130ft) to ensure safe and efficient lift operations.
  • Work with moving machinery equipment (RPMs estimated @ 1750 RPM) and high-pressure hydraulics
  • Troubleshoot and work with high volt and low volt controls
  • Work safely doing line work in a maintenance work basket
  • Safely work with all shop tools suggested, but not limited to: drill press, band saw, lathe, skill saw, grinder, stud gun, parts washer, slip tester, welding machine, acetylene torch, oxygen and nitrogen cylinders and many simple hand tools
  • Be able to respond to accidents or wrecks on mountain

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing ski area equipment, demonstrating a strong background in the ski industry.
  • Millwright or apprentice with ski industry experience a plus
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard safely and responsibly, showcasing the opportunity to enjoy winter sports as part of the job.
  • Must be able to work safely in a team effort, work independently in the absence of supervision, and respond appropriately when immediate action is required
