Job description

The Hepatology Physician is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with liver diseases, including hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, autoimmune and genetic liver disorders, and liver cancer. The physician will provide both inpatient and outpatient care, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to research and education in hepatology to patients in the Palm Beach County area.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic liver diseases.
  • Provide consultation services for outpatients with hepatic conditions.
  • Manage pre- and post-liver transplant patients in collaboration with transplant teams associated with Tampa General Hospital.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests such as liver function panels, imaging studies, and liver biopsies.
  • Coordinate care with gastroenterologists, oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary liver disease and transplant conferences.
  • Educate patients and families about disease prevention, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Engage in clinical research and stay current with emerging hepatology advances.
  • Document all patient encounters in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology.
  • Additional fellowship training in Hepatology or Transplant Hepatology is preferred.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license in state of Florida.
  • Current DEA certification.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous improvement.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience managing complex liver disease and liver transplant cases.
  • Familiarity with clinical research and participation in clinical trials.
  • Experience in academic or teaching hospital settings.
