AV Media Specialist

Openings: 2 full-time positions | Location: New London, Connecticut (on-site)

Position Summary

The AV Media Specialist keeps the National Coast Guard Museum galleries, theater, and interactive media experiences reliable, accessible, and presentation-ready. The role combines audiovisual systems support, media deployment, calibration, preventive maintenance, and approved event support in a high-uptime public environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Load, update, synchronize, and quality-check approved digital content across museum media players and interactive displays.

  • Calibrate projectors, gallery audio, and theater systems; perform routine cleaning, firmware updates, and equipment-health checks.

  • Troubleshoot failures across AV hardware, software, media players, signal paths, network routing, and centralized control systems.

  • Support Government-approved content digitization, formatting, remastering, and accessible-media features, including captions, assistive-listening support, and audio descriptions.

  • Support approved lectures and events with microphones, presentations, multi-camera streaming, and related AV systems.

  • Coordinate with the IT Specialist and Exhibits Maintenance Technician on high-bandwidth video distribution, cable routing, discreet equipment integration, and exhibit uptime.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in digital media, film/video production, audio engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Three to five years of professional AV experience in museum galleries, high-end theaters, live-event production, or comparable high-uptime environments.

  • Portfolio demonstrating successful multimedia installations, professional video production, or comparable AV systems work.

  • Working knowledge of HDMI, HDBaseT, SDI, NDI, audio signal flow, Adobe Premiere/After Effects/Audition, and Crestron, Extron, or Q-SYS control environments.
