Job Summary:
AeroVironment (AV) is a global leader in unmanned aircraft systems and tactical missile systems. The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-performance software applications while collaborating with analysts and DevOps teams to meet complex operational needs.
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop scalable backend services using Java, Python, or similar languages
• Build modern, user-friendly interfaces using frameworks such as React or Angular
• Debug, test, and optimize performance across distributed systems
• Support and integrate CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps teams
• Work closely with analysts and stakeholders to define requirements and iterate rapidly
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment
• Ensure solutions meet performance, scalability, and mission requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Minimum 8 - 12 years of relevant experience in application software development
• Expert-level experience in software engineering across the full development lifecycle
• Hands-on experience with modern programming languages and frameworks such as Java, Python, React, and Spring Boot
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, containerization, and cloud technologies
• An active TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Top Secret with Poly clearance
• U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred:
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Ability to translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions
