Job description

Audubon is currently seeking a QC Technician to join our team in our Offsite Office. The QC Technician plays a critical role in supporting quality assurance processes and promoting continuous improvement across projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform quality surveillance and inspections for assigned discipline(s), including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, welding, coating/paint, materials, electrical, instrumentation, or assist in commissioning activities - as applicable to project scope.
  • Verify work is executed in accordance with IFC drawings, specifications, approved procedures, and ITP hold/witness points.
  • Conduct dimensional checks, installation verification, and material inspections.
  • Confirm proper storage, handling, and traceability of materials.
  • Execute inspections per approved ITPs and quality procedures specific to the project.
  • Witness testing activities such as hydrostatic testing, NDT, torque verification, coatings inspections, pressure testing, or electrical testing (as applicable).
  • Ensure inspection documentation is properly completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Complete inspection reports, checklists, and quality records accurately and promptly.
  • Identify and document non-conformances (NCRs) when work does not meet project requirements.
  • Verify corrective actions have been implemented before work proceeds.
  • Support mechanical completion and turnover documentation packages.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, ASTM, NEC, ISO, etc., depending on project scope).
  • Confirm qualified personnel are performing specialized work (e.g., certified welders, licensed electricians).
  • Verify that approved procedures (WPS, coating procedures, test procedures, etc.) are followed.
  • Coordinate quality activities with construction supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Participate in client and third-party inspections.
  • Communicate quality concerns proactively to QC supervision and project leadership.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:
  • All employees are responsible for supporting Audubon Companies' Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. This includes:
  • Performing duties in a manner that protects personal and team health and safety
  • Participating in required HSE training, meetings, and reporting activities
  • Identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions
  • Following safe work practices and complying with applicable regulatory requirements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years of field inspection experience in industrial construction or energy projects.
  • Working knowledge of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards relevant to project scope.
  • Experience with quality documentation systems and turnover processes.
  • Certifications such as CWI, API 510/570/653, NACE, ICC, or equivalent (preferred based on discipline).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Computer literate in BlueBeam and NavisWorks
