    Job description

    Position Summary
    Lead and manage the construction project portfolio and related business processes for the Construction Department. Assist with new store construction, remodels, store rebuilds, and special projects while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards. This role combines project coordination responsibilities with financial accountability and requires flexibility in a fast-paced, evolving retail environment.
    Work Location: On-Site
    Travel Requirement: Travel required as needed to support store projects.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Coordinate construction projects, including new store openings, remodels, store rebuilds, and special initiatives.
    • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of capital projects to support company growth and operational objectives.
    • Support vendor selection, bid review processes, contract administration, and project-related approvals.
    • Coordinate with vendors, internal departments, field teams, and store operations to ensure projects progress according to schedule.
    • Create and manage purchase orders, review invoices, and monitor project expenditures to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
    • Track capital and operational expenses associated with construction and store development projects.
    • Maintain project tracking tools and documentation, including bids, awarded contracts, project costs, permit status, construction milestones, and possession dates.
    • Read, interpret, and support execution of store blueprints, floor plans, and construction specifications.
    • Utilize knowledge of retail store fixtures and store layouts to support construction and remodeling activities.
    • Support project closeout activities, including documentation, punch-list completion, warranty tracking, and final project reconciliation.
    • Assist with departmental reporting and project status updates as needed.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Knowledge of retail store construction, remodeling, rebuilding, and store fixture installation.
    • Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints, floor plans, and construction documents.
    • Experience managing budgets, controlling expenses, and tracking project costs.
    • Strong organizational, project coordination, and time-management skills with the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing applications.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships across departments and with external vendors.
    • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing business needs and project requirements.
    • Attention to detail and follow-through.
    • Willingness to travel as project needs dictate.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience supporting retail store construction, remodel, rebuild, or store development projects.
    • Experience balancing capital project responsibilities with operational expense management.
    • Background in retail operations, store management, district management, construction coordination, or project management.
    • Knowledge of retail fixture programs and store layout implementation.
    • Understanding of the end-to-end processes involved in planning and executing retail capital projects.
