Structural Drafter / Designer - Commercial Buildings

Location: Phoenix, AZ
Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000 base + overtime + bonus
Schedule: Full-time, salaried (40 hours/week)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Structural Drafter / Designer to support the development of construction documents for a wide range of building projects. This role is responsible for producing well-coordinated, near-complete structural drawing sets with limited direction, based on established design intent and coordination with project leadership.

The ideal candidate is technically strong in AutoCAD and Revit, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with engineers and other disciplines throughout the design process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop complete structural construction drawing sets with minimal redlines or revisions

  • Lay out structural systems and elements including grids, framing, foundations, and lateral components based on provided design direction

  • Coordinate structural drawings with architectural and consultant disciplines, resolving conflicts where possible

  • Produce general notes, typical details, schedules, and annotated plans suitable for engineering review

  • Maintain drawing efficiency while meeting project schedules and budget expectations

  • Support and mentor junior staff in construction document development

  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of drafting standards

  • Troubleshoot and resolve AutoCAD and Revit modeling challenges

  • Review basic shop drawings and assist with construction-related documentation

  • Participate in occasional site visits, as-built surveys, or field support activities as needed

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or technical training in drafting, design, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years of experience producing structural construction documents

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (BIM)

  • Working knowledge of structural systems and construction documentation

  • Familiarity with common office and documentation tools (Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, PDF markup tools)

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, codes, and project requirements

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Drafting or CAD-related certification preferred but not required
