    Are you an experienced professional looking to advance your career in the utilities industry? The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a skilled individual to oversee the installations, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment at the Fiveash Water Treatment Plant. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a vibrant city known for its beautiful beaches and lively culture.

    Essential Job Functions
    • Lead and direct the work of crew members, including training and guidance.
    • Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pumps, motors, and other machinery.
    • Inspect mechanical equipment and make maintenance recommendations.
    • Operate power tools and large mobile equipment like boom trucks and forklifts.
    • Perform welding, brazing, soldering, minor carpentry, and painting.
    • Submit work activity reports and maintain tools and equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
    • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and manufacturer's data sheets.
    • Troubleshoot problems and make recommendations.
    • Respond to off-duty emergency call-ins as needed.
    Requirements
    • High school diploma, trade school graduation, or G.E.D. from a recognized institution.
    • Three to five years of experience in mechanical maintenance and repair work.
    • Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly.
    • Ability to lift, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel, and climb ladders up to 30 feet.
    • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
    Preferences
    • Additional qualifying experience or coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field.
