At Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, we've been providing quality care close to home for more than 100 years - and now we're connected to the largest health care system in the state, WVU Medicine.
The hospital began as God's Providence Home, an old farmhouse converted to an infirmary by B.M. Spurr, Archdeacon of the WV Episcopal Diocese. In 1899, Archdeacon Spurr founded the hospital through funding provided by Emily Van Buren Reynolds, daughter of U.S. President Martin Van Buren, in memory of her husband and sons. The current facility was constructed in 1963. On October 1, 2016, Reynolds became a WVU Medicine hospital. Since joining the WVU Medicine organization, Reynolds has continued to make capital investments behind the scenes, update and add additional services, and bring in new specialists.
Few elements of a community can impact the quality of life like practical, accessible health care. At Reynolds Memorial Hospital, our mission is to provide quality care to patients and the community at a reasonable cost. In coordination with WVU Medicine, we provide the Ohio Valley with the most advanced care when people are sick, and connect them with resources and access to preventative care to keep them healthy.
You don't need to travel far for quality care. As an extension of WVU Medicine, our full range of medical services keeps you close to home while you receive quality cancer care, cardiac and pulmonary care, orthopedic care, and much more. We listen to the needs of our community as we continue to add and expand services.
Reynolds is a nonprofit, acute-care community hospital located in Glen Dale, WV. We are governed by a 13-member volunteer board of directors and licensed for 90-beds, including a 20-bed Skilled Nursing Unit. Reynolds Memorial Hospital is licensed by the WV State Health Department and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The hospital is a member of the Voluntary Hospital Association, Inc., the American Hospital Association and the WV Hospital Association.
