Job description

Description:

Deliver exceptional customer service while representing the Wheeler Machinery and Caterpillar brands with the highest level of professionalism and integrity. This position is responsible for assembling hose orders based on customer drawings, verbal instructions, or pick tickets, including walk-in orders. The role also manages hose and coupling inventory, adjusts work priorities as directed, including aiding the team in warehouse operations, and maintains an organized, clean, and safe work environment.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and established work practices at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area; inspect equipment regularly and promptly report malfunctions, unusual conditions, or safety concerns to a supervisor or lead.
  • Consistently demonstrate safe work habits and actively support a safety-first culture.
  • Monitor the hose shop production schedule and meet delivery timelines and production expectations.
  • Assemble hose orders using customer drawings, verbal instructions, or pick ticket information, including fulfillment of walk-in customer orders.
  • Perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
  • Participate in mobile hose van assignments as needed.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team and support shared goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely and supporting a strong safety culture.
  • Ability and willingness to promote teamwork and collaborate effectively with all departments across the organization.
  • Strong customer service aptitude with the ability to add value through product knowledge, service excellence, and relationship-building with customers.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills, with the discipline to use resources efficiently to meet department and company objectives.
  • Proven initiative with the ability to understand goals or objectives and take proactive steps to achieve them.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with coworkers and customers while remaining calm and professional under pressure.
  • Understanding of the urgency within the industries served and the importance of minimizing customer equipment downtime.
  • Demonstrates ownership of issues by identifying solutions that meet customer needs while maintaining the integrity and values of the Wheeler team.
  • Working knowledge of Wheeler Machinery logistics networks is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required for hose van operation.
  • Training or background in customer service preferred.
  • Prior experience in customer-facing roles preferred.
  • Willingness to proactively support team members, share knowledge, and participate in cross-training across functions.
  • Team-oriented individual who understands and supports a collaborative, team-based work environment.
