- Pay Rate: $65.00-$68.00 / Hour (USD)
- Shift / Schedule: Standard full-time schedule, generally starting between 7:00-8:00 AM; overtime not expected but may occur during spring/fall
- Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to Colorado generating plants; approximately 5-10% out-of-state travel; expenses reimbursed at cost (mileage, lodging, meals where eligible); no per diem

Job SummaryThis Quality Control Engineer role supports approximately 500 active power generation projects across Colorado, working alongside 20-25 Project Managers within Base Capital. The position implements QA/QC processes for high-risk projects at power plants in a highly collaborative environment supporting internal plant customers, project managers, operations personnel, and contractors. The work model is semi-hybrid and primarily field based, typically requiring 3-4 days onsite at plant locations and 1 day home/office, with the assigned office in the Denver Metro area at either Blake Street or MDC.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and review quality management plans
- Perform field inspections and monitor contractor work
- Ensure installation compliance to plans and specifications
- Support commissioning and startup activities
- Identify defects and non-conformances
- Perform walkdowns, audits, and field reporting
- Review project plans, schedules, and quality documentation
- Update and support project-specific quality plans
- Conduct site inspections, installation walkdowns, and contractor oversight
- Attend 7:00 AM plant POD meetings when onsite
- Coordinate shop visits, testing activities, and issue resolution
- Track quality findings and support corrective actions
Required Skills- QA/QC experience including inspections, testing procedures, and defect identification
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Strong organization, prioritization, communication, and self-directed work habits
Preferred Skills- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Quality inspection background
- Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Lean Six Sigma or other Lean certifications
- Quality Auditor certifications
- Bluebeam, Procore experience
- Utility, heavy industrial, manufacturing, civil, or telecom experience
Education Requirements- Engineering degree required (Mechanical or Electrical preferred; Civil/Structural acceptable) or Construction Management degree
Required Experience- 3-7 years of industrial, utility, oil & gas, power generation, or similar experience
Work Environment / Physical Requirements- Semi-hybrid; primarily field based with frequent travel to Colorado generating plants
- Approximately 5-10% out-of-state travel
- PPE provided; steel-toe boots required with reimbursement available (up to approximately $75 one-time)
- Overtime not expected but may occur during spring/fall
Important Notes- Interview Process: Resume review approximately one week after posting; virtual interview format; small panel interview (2-3 participants); typically one interview round, with a second round only for closely matched finalists.
- Ramp-Up Expectations: Week 1 - onboarding, access setup, plant visits, and project familiarization; Month 1 - learn policies, procedures, job aids, and training materials; Month 3 - assigned projects, quality plan reviews, and field activities; Month 6 - independent ownership of quality plan approvals, contractor support, and field reporting.
