Job description

Trinity Metro has an immediate opening for a System Administrator to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware, and networks and assist in developing the overall IT strategy. The incumbent in this position is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. Install hardware and software, and participate in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of Trinity Metro. The incumbent will also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the company. The System Administrator is under the direction of the Vice President of Technology.

This position’s responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Install and upgrade server components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure
  • Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Advanced proficiency with vSphere, vSAN, and other VMware products and platforms. 
  • Working knowledge of firewalls, servers, networks, and operating systems
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Ensure that all details are correct, from software code to configuration settings, in order to avoid malfunctions, bugs, and security breaches
  • Must possess a strong customer orientation, as they provide technical support as requested and explain complex topics in layman’s terms
  • Must be comfortable with technical writing to produce documentation about infrastructure design, quality standards, testing procedures, and other essential project information. 

Qualifications: 

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 2-5 years of experience with Microsoft server installation, configuration, patching and day to day review and maintenance
  • 2-5 years of system administration and IT certifications in vSphere, NSX Cloud, Microsoft, or other server software / applications, VMware, Zerto, and related fields
  • 2-5 years of working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • 2-5 years backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • 2-5 years of experience with servers, routers, firewalls
  • 2-5 years of experience with WinSCP, Putty, Wir


EDUCATION 

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required.

Any combination of experience, training and/or education that provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills can be substituted for the required education.
