Job description

The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) seeks a dynamic, student-centered, and forward-thinking Graphic Designer to provide visionary leadership.

**This is an in-person position.**

The Graphic Designer is responsible for the layout, design, and production of marketing and communications materials that support a consistent and cohesive university brand. This is a full-time, on-site administrative and professional staff position based at our Prescott, Arizona campus, reporting to the Director of Creative and Brand Strategy.

This role requires a self-sufficient designer with a strong portfolio, excellent typography skills, and exceptional attention to detail. The Graphic Designer must be able to manage multiple concurrent projects while also executing focused, detail-driven creative work.

The position contributes to the development of innovative design solutions and collaborates with campus partners and colleagues across a creative team environment. A strong emphasis is placed on translating brand strategy into high-quality, production-ready deliverables, particularly in print and multi-page design work. This includes a strong understanding of layout, typography, color, and print production processes.

The Graphic Designer supports a diverse set of higher education audiences, including prospective students, donors, alums, faculty, staff, and parents. The role requires flexibility, creative problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous professional growth and collaboration across the university community.

Primary Job Functions and Duties:

  • Develop creative concepts and visual solutions that align with project goals and university brand standards. Execute designs for a variety of formats (publications, campaigns, digital assets, environmental graphics, etc.). Prepare production-ready files for print and digital distribution. Ensure accuracy, quality, accessibility, and consistency across all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with clients, copywriters, and the graphic design team to execute designs and adhere to the university brand, based on direction provided by the Creative Director and the Director of Creative and Brand Strategy.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and best practices in higher education marketing and visual communication. Contribute ideas to improve creative workflows, processes, and team collaboration.

Secondary Job Functions and Duties:

  • Participate in weekly creative team meetings and one-on-one meetings to discuss project workload, priorities, and performance.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders, incorporating feedback to strengthen creative solutions.
  • Maintain accurate project status updates and task management within the department’s project management system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Creative Director or Director of Creative and Brand Strategy.
