Unity Point Mental Health Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our compassionate team in a remote capacity. Work Environment

This position offers the unique advantage of remote work, allowing you to operate in a flexible and supportive environment. While you will primarily work from home, you will also collaborate with colleagues and healthcare providers via virtual platforms. This structure fosters a balance between professional responsibilities and personal life, enabling you to manage a flexible 40-hour work schedule, typically Monday to Friday, with the availability to work on weekends as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health evaluations, crisis interventions, assessments, and follow-up care for patients encountering various mental health challenges.
  • Determine and coordinate the appropriate level of mental health care, including disposition decisions based on individual assessments and treatment needs.
  • Document all required statistical reports and maintain updated patient records in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, including the Department of Correction, to ensure patients’ access to necessary services, proper housing, and suitable treatment options.
  • Lead group therapy sessions on mental health observation units and provide treatment within both clinical and community settings.
  • Engage in weekly clinical supervision with a Clinical Supervisor to enhance your professional development and skill set.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary mental health and medical rounds and contribute to case conferences to develop effective treatment plans.
  • Where assigned, conduct psychological testing and supervise social work interns or student volunteers, further enhancing the learning environment.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role as a Mental Health Counselor will place you at the forefront of impacting a diverse patient population, including individuals coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, and more. You will work directly with clients from various backgrounds, deploying culturally competent strategies to address their specific needs and foster engagement in their treatment plans.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling is required.
  • A valid State license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is essential, with the ability to obtain and maintain certification.
Preferred Experience

While prior experience in a mental health setting is preferred, new graduates are encouraged to apply as we value a fresh perspective and a desire to grow within the profession. Experience in crisis intervention, case management, and group therapy facilitation will give you a distinct advantage.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 115,000 to 130,000 annually, commensurate with experience. In addition to your salary, we provide a robust benefits package that includes:
