Job description

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) – Clarity Searcy | Full-Time

Clarity Searcy is seeking a compassionate and clinically strong Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management services for children, adolescents, and adults. This full-time role partners closely with interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, evidence-based behavioral health care in a collaborative outpatient setting.

Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited program, including graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatric/mental health care.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current, unrestricted Arkansas APRN license required. Must hold PMHNP certification through ANCC or AANP and maintain a valid, unrestricted DEA registration.
  • Preferred Experience: One to two years of direct clinical experience providing care to individuals receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders in an outpatient or comparable behavioral health setting.

Working Relationships

The PMHNP must communicate effectively with patients, family members, caseworkers, referral sources, and Unity Health associates throughout all aspects of treatment. Success in this role requires courtesy, tact, respect, discretion, and the ability to make sound independent decisions while functioning with minimal supervision.

Performance & Compliance

This position requires ongoing demonstration of age-specific, clinical, and organization-wide competencies, including fire safety, infection control, and emergency response. Performance is routinely evaluated by clinical and administrative leadership. This role is classified as safety sensitive; impaired performance could result in harm to self or others. In accordance with organizational policy, associates actively engaged in the use of medical marijuana, even with a valid medical marijuana card, are excluded from employment in safety-sensitive positions.

Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate maintains strong physical and emotional well-being and can meet the demands of a busy outpatient clinic environment. Responsibilities include frequent writing and computer documentation, walking throughout the clinic, occasional assistance with wheelchairs or patient escort, and lifting or pushing up to 50 pounds. The role also requires prolonged sitting and adequate visual and auditory abilities to interpret environmental input. Minimal exposure to malodorous or noxious odors may occur, and exposure to infectious waste or body fluids may require the use of gloves, masks, gowns, or goggles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide outpatient psychiatric services during scheduled clinic hours, including psychiatric evaluations and medication management.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat behavioral health conditions in children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue medications and other treatments in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement and the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and other treatment team members to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Complete medical record documentation accurately and on time, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, outcome measures, billing entries, and required reports.
  • Provide therapeutic counseling during appointments when clinically appropriate.
  • Develop and contribute to individualized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based and best-practice interventions.
  • Order or review laboratory and diagnostic testing as needed to inform psychiatric treatment and overall health assessment.
