Job description

Summary

Uses LEAN manufacturing principles to design, build, and improve upon work cells for all production areas. Optimize the manufacturing process and contribute to continuous improvement and ergonomic efforts.

The Continuous Improvement Technician 1 is part of the Production Maintenance Department, reports to the Continuous Improvement Team Lead and bears full responsibility for agreed upon goals and objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Help in the design of and build production work cells using LEAN concepts, which are tailored to internal customer needs.
  • Install new production work cells/equipment as needed as well as breakdown and dispose of old work cells/equipment.
  • Contribute to improvements projects interacting and engaging with multiple departments.
  • Implement ideas generated by individuals, which positively impact safety, quality, ergonomics and efficiency.
  • Provide day-to-day housekeeping and maintenance of the Continuous Improvement and mechanical workshop areas.
  • Assist Production Maintenance / Facility Maintenance / Continuous Improvement technicians with production support as needed.

Who You Are

  • Associates degree in an Engineering Field (preferably Mechanical or Electrical) or a High School diploma and 2 years technical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of LEAN and ergonomic concepts, regarding reach, positioning, and placement of hand, wrist, and arm during assembly processes a plus.
  • Ability to understand and interpret basic written technical information.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools (i.e. Drill/Drivers, Track Saw) as well as operate horizontal and vertical band saw, drill press, and miter saw. Milling/Lathe experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand a basic tape measure - metric and standard.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices.
  • Highly energized and self-motivated individual with customer service mindset.
  • Ability to use independent judgement to design, construct and test structures to support manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Regular physical activity, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, climbing ladders, using lifts, and working in confined spaces.
  • Be quality and precision-driven, and able to follow all quality and safety requirements
  • Familiar with Aluminum Framing Systems is a plus (Currently use Bosch Rexroth Aluminum Framing System for majority of projects)
