In this exciting role, you'll join our elite Critical Infrastructure Command Team, a talented, traveling team of construction quality professionals helping the most complex infrastructure projects meet quality, regulatory, schedule, and budget milestones, and solving challenges others may shy away from. From bridges and highways to tunnels, dams, and channels, you will be responsible for observing, monitoring, and documenting the work performed in the field by construction and contracting crews, coordinating, and overseeing daily work tasks for a diverse team of field inspectors, all while learning from the best of the best. This position is for those interested in traveling, exploring, and deploying to multi-billion dollar, transformative projects across the U.S. It requires travel for extended periods of time, approximately 75%-80% of the year, with generous paid allowances for time spent with loved ones. Some working hours will be during evenings, overnight, and weekends.

What You'll Do
As Construction Inspector II on the Critical Infrastructure Command Team, you will report directly to an Ulteig resource manager and/or to the Construction Monitoring Manager of all assigned projects. You'll be part of a team that inspects and documents transformational, high-value transportation and water-related construction projects, in accordance with the owner's requirements and contract documents, and assists the Construction Monitoring Manager in on-site resolution of construction-related issues as they are identified. This will require coordination with construction monitoring and project management teams as needed. Key job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Observe construction in accordance with project specifications, including asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, bridges, storm and sanitary pipe, waterline pipe, curb and gutter, dry utility installation, signal inspection, and more.
  • Track and report project/construction progress and status
  • Work closely with the owner, project management team, contractor management team, owner's engineers, and utilities
  • Ensure adherence to Safety policies
  • Ensure adherence to the client's Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs
  • Update "as built" drawings
  • Report, track, and resolve non-conformance issues in coordination with QA/QC
  • Implementation of basic layout and field measurements
  • Assist project staff in their duties, including change orders and pay item tracking

What We Expect from You
  • 4-8 years of related construction inspection experience preferred
  • Certified Welding Inspector certification is preferred
  • Two-year technical degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent preferred
  • Traffic Control Supervisor, Transportation Erosion Control Supervisor, Flagger, ACI or related certifications for Asphalt and /or Concrete preferred
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and construction specifications/manuals
  • Ability to read and understand construction and procurement contracts preferred
  • Ability to read and understand project schedules and Gantt charts
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, Project/Primavera, and Procore
  • Familiarity with GIS database systems and applications preferred
  • Strong math skills

  • Excellent verbal/written communications
  • Ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with owners' representatives, contractors, vendors and others on and off the job site
  • Ability to work approximately 90% in the field, nights, weekends, and more than 40 hours per week

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $38.00 - $51.50 per hour
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job-specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role, and comparison to other employees already in this role.
