Overall Job Summary

The Director of IT SAP Platforms leads the architecture, engineering, and operations of Tractor Supply's enterprise SAP landscape. The role defines the SAP roadmap, including the transition to SAP S/4HANA RISE and the integration of practical AI capabilities that enhance reliability, automation, and decision support. The platform must remain secure, scalable, and aligned with the needs of finance, supply chain, merchandising, store operations, and corporate functions.

This leader oversees SAP solution architecture, configuration, integration, change management, and production support. They guide internal teams and partners, manage vendor relationships, and enforce disciplined governance for upgrades, enhancements, and major initiatives. The role balances operational stability with innovation, driving modernization through cloud readiness, automation, and AI-enabled improvements supported by SAP S/4HANA RISE.

The ideal candidate brings deep SAP platform leadership and the ability to deliver strong architecture, dependable operations, and forward-looking capabilities that position Tractor Supply for the next generation of SAP and AI-driven solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
  • Lead and define the vision for Tractor Supply's enterprise SAP platforms, shaping the architecture, engineering, and operational direction needed to support current business operations and the transition to SAP S/4HANA RISE.
  • Partner with finance, supply chain, merchandising, store operations, and corporate teams to ensure SAP capabilities align with the Life Out Here strategy and deliver scalable, secure, and business-ready solutions.
  • Own, prioritize, and manage the multiyear SAP technology roadmap, including modernization, lifecycle planning, cloud readiness, integration improvements, automation, and AI-enabled enhancements to SAP processes.
  • Lead teams of SAP solution architects, engineers, functional analysts, BASIS administrators, integration specialists, cloud platform engineers, and support partners in delivering roadmap initiatives, enhancements, and stable daily operations.
  • Direct the development and enforcement of SAP technical standards, integration frameworks, configuration quality practices, release and change management processes, and environment strategies that ensure a consistent and reliable ecosystem.
  • Develop and manage strategic technology and vendor partnerships, including SAP, implementation partners, and platform providers, to accelerate delivery, optimize cost, and strengthen platform capabilities.
  • Ensure the SAP environment meets stringent requirements for security, privacy, compliance, high availability, and performance, including oversight of incident response, SLA management, monitoring, capacity planning, and operational governance.
  • Build, scale, and develop SAP engineering and operations teams across multiple locations, fostering a high-quality, high-velocity delivery culture capable of supporting enterprise growth.
  • Establish and maintain strong platform governance to ensure upgrades, enhancements, and major implementations are executed with rigor, quality, and minimal business disruption.
  • Provide an environment that attracts and retains industry-leading SAP talent through a strong engineering culture, clear direction, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Serve as an executive escalation point for SAP issues and communicate platform priorities, risks, and progress to technology and business leaders.
  • Contribute as a member of the technology leadership team in shaping organizational strategies and advancing Tractor Supply's transformation through SAP S/4HANA RISE, automation, and responsible use of AI within enterprise systems.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies related to SAP data, access, retention, and system operations.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership in SAP platform modernization, S/4HANA RISE evolution, automation, and AI-driven improvements to strengthen Tractor Supply's operational capabilities and customer experience.
Required Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in SAP architecture, engineering, or platform operations, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership or director-level role. Demonstrated success leading SAP teams, guiding complex ERP initiatives, and delivering reliable, scalable enterprise platforms. Strong background developing SAP technology roadmaps, building business cases, driving modernization efforts, and delivering new capabilities through S/4HANA RISE, automation, and cloud integration. Experience in high-velocity environments with responsibility for production operations, incident management, release governance, and large cross-functional implementations. Familiarity with retail domains such as Merchandising, Finance, Supply Chain, and Store Operations is preferred. Proven ability to partner with business leaders, communicate clearly, and build trusted relationships across functions.

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field. A comparable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Professional Certifications: Relevant SAP certifications (such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP Solution Architecture, SAP BASIS/Technical Administration, or SAP Integration) are preferred but not required.

High Demand IT Specialized Skills: Deep knowledge of SAP technologies including SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA RISE, SAP BASIS, SAP integration services, and enterprise platforms. Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure or similar), automation and monitoring technologies, DevOps practices, and AI-enabled enhancements to SAP workflows. Understanding of enterprise security, compliance, and performance optimization within large-scale SAP environments.

Platform Knowledge: Experience with SAP and related enterprise platforms and tooling. Exposure to complementary technologies such as Azure, Linux, Windows Server, Oracle, and integration middleware is beneficial.

Other Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Strong leadership presence, the ability to scale and develop technical teams, excellent communication and executive presentation skills, disciplined execution, strong vendor management skills, and a record of delivering stable, secure, and innovative SAP platforms in a fast-moving business environment.
