The responsibilities of a Service Technician include diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing customer vehicles GM training and ASE certificate a plus, and great communication skills.

Service Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership.
  • Perform video/digital multi-point inspection, test drive, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair to manufacture standards.
  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed.
  • Provide estimates for time and associated needs for repairs and additional recommedations.
  • Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.

Service Technician Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience as a GM technician
  • Knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance:
    • Oil changes
    • Tires
    • Brakes
    • Battery
    • Fluid flushes
    • Light suspension work
    • Tune Up
    • Belts/hose repair
  • Fast, eager learner and team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Computer skills and willingness to learn new problems.
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Clean driving record & valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a drug and background check.
