Job description

Position Overview

At Merriweather Lakehouse, Autograph Collection, the Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating and managing group business opportunities that drive occupancy, revenue, and guest engagement. This role focuses on developing relationships with corporate clients, associations, social groups, and other organizations while ensuring an exceptional experience from the initial inquiry through event execution. The Group Sales Manager serves as an ambassador of the hotel and works closely with operations teams to deliver seamless, personalized experiences that reflect the luxury and service standards of the Autograph Collection brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales and Business Development

· Prospect, solicit, and secure new group business opportunities through phone calls, networking, referrals, and outside sales efforts

· Maintain and expand relationships with corporate accounts, associations, social groups, and local organizations

· Respond promptly to inquiries and prepare customized proposals, contracts, and presentations

· Conduct site tours and showcase the hotel's guestrooms, meeting spaces, restaurants, and amenities

· Participate in community events, industry associations, and networking functions to increase market visibility

· Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue and production goals

Account Management

· Manage assigned accounts and maintain regular communication to identify future business opportunities

· Negotiate contracts and pricing while maximizing profitability and maintaining brand standards.

· Maintain accurate records and activity in CRM and sales management systems

· Prepare and distribute group resumes and communicate client expectations to operational teams

· Ensure all contract details, room blocks, and event requirements are properly documented

Collaboration and Event Execution

· Partner closely with Catering, Banquets, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Revenue Management teams to ensure flawless execution

· Participate in pre-convention meetings and communicate group needs to internal departments.

· Monitor group pickup and work with Revenue Management to optimize room inventory and pricing

· Support clients throughout the planning process and serve as a resource before, during, and after their stay

· Address guest concerns and coordinate timely resolutions to ensure client satisfaction

Administrative Responsibilities

· Maintain sales reports, production statistics, and forecasting information

· Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and local events to identify opportunities for growth

· Participate in weekly sales meetings and strategic planning sessions

· Ensure compliance with Marriott and company policies and procedures

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred

· Minimum of 2-3 years of hotel sales, group sales, or hospitality experience preferred

· Experience with Marriott systems and CI/TY, Delphi, or similar sales software preferred

· Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

· Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM platforms

Physical Requirements

· Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods

· Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds

· Ability to travel locally for outside sales calls, networking events, and client meetings

· Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require
