Build Your Career at the Intersection of Editing, Writing, Science, and Real-World Impact

At Terracon, we don't just engineer solutions-we tell the story behind the data. Our geotechnical teams help communities design and build safe, resilient infrastructure by transforming complex subsurface information into clear, actionable recommendations.

We're seeking a Project Coordinator who excels at writing, editing, organization, and communication-someone who can bring clarity and precision to technical projects. This is an ideal role for candidates with an English degree or similar background who want to apply their skills in a dynamic engineering environment.
As a Project Coordinator, you will play a critical role in shaping how our work is communicated to clients, project teams, and the communities we serve. This is not a traditional engineering role-it's a communication-centered position within a technical environment.

Terracon is a 100 percent employee-owned multidiscipline consulting firm comprised of more than 8,000 curious minds focused on solving engineering and technical challenges from more than 200 locations nationwide. Since 1965, Terracon has evolved into a successful multi-discipline firm specializing in environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services. Terracon's growth is due to our talented employee-owners exceeding expectations in client service and growing their careers with new and exciting opportunities in the marketplace. Based on eligibility, role and job status, we offer many programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, paid time off and holidays, education reimbursement, and various bonus programs.
Innovation and hands-on practice come together in our geotechnical consulting services. We provide geotechnical services nationwide for a wide range of projects, drawing on six decades of historical geotechnical data, a fleet of more than 200 drill rigs, 140 accredited laboratories, and thousands of employees to quickly organize or capture site data wherever projects are located. From AI-supported solutions and predictive technologies to geophysics and traditional exploration, we deliver precision, value-added subsurface information and engineering and scientific expertise to solving our clients' challenges and achieve their goals for project sustainability, quality, and efficiency.

High school diploma and a minimum of 4 years' related experience.
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field preferred
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to edit for clarity, consistency, and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
Fluent in Microsoft Office; comfort working with document-heavy workflows

  • Develop and refine written deliverables including technical reports, proposals, and client communications in collaboration with engineers and scientists
  • Ensure clarity, consistency, and quality across project documentation, aligning with Terracon's quality standards and client expectations
  • Translate technical concepts into clear language, improving readability and client understanding
  • Collaborate across teams (engineers, project managers, accounting, and field staff) to track project status, budgets, and schedules
  • Support proposal development and client engagement, including requests for proposals (RFPs), fee estimates, and change orders
  • Maintain project systems and databases ensuring accurate and timely information flow
  • Track project milestones, deliverables and billing processes in coordination with project teams
