Job description

Talon is a small business engineering firm providing innovative, end-to-end, rapid-turn solutions to our government and commercial clients. Founded in 2019, Talon employs over 150 Aerospace and Defense engineers and other support staff to solve complex engineering problems for a variety of applications to include aircraft, ballistics, cybersecurity, motorsports, armor development, biological systems, missiles, and warheads. Talon has an office in Tucson, AZ that is providing high fidelity computational models/analysis and technical services support to Fortune 500 companies.

We are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support a broad range of effectors programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle-from concept development to final deployment-contributing to some of the most advanced defense systems in the world.

As part of our team, you'll engage with cross-disciplinary teams, apply rigorous systems engineering practices, and ensure our systems meet their mission requirements-on time and the first time. This is a highly collaborative, impact-driven position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Test Campaigns: Plan, execute, and document system-level integration and verification activities in lab and field environments.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Analyze system performance, debug issues across hardware and software interfaces, and recommend/implement solutions.
  • Integrate Complex Systems: Perform end-to-end integration of hardware and software into tactical platforms and assess system-level functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including systems, software, hardware, and test engineers to ensure seamless system functionality.
  • Document and Communicate: Generate test documentation, analyze results, verify system requirements, and clearly communicate technical findings to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Perform Advanced Data Analysis: Use statistical tools and methods to assess test data, identify trends, and confirm system requirements are met.
  • Present Results: Communicate findings, risks, and solutions to engineering leadership, customers, and program stakeholders.
  • Support Test Missions: Travel as needed to support system integration, test events, and mission execution at Raytheon facilities, vendor sites, and customer locations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Direct experience with systems engineering disciplines, including systems requirements, software/hardware integration, and system-level testing.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for resolving cross-domain system issues.
  • Active and transferable U.S. Secret security clearance required prior to start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required (clearance eligibility requirement).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain additional program access as required.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including 401k
  • Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
  • A collaborative work culture focused on innovation and work-life balance.

Additional Details:

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for success in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
