About Switch

At Switch, we don’t just design, build and operate data centers—we are enabling the technology of the future. Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.

We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.

The Role: Production Technician I

As a Production Technician I, you will support the construction, assembly, and installation of data center equipment and infrastructure across Switch facilities. This role helps prepare cabinets, containment systems, and related components for customer deployments and operational readiness. You will work closely with the production team to complete scheduled work safely, accurately, and on time.

This is a hands-on role that requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in active data center and construction environments.

What You’ll Do
  • Assemble and prepare cabinet systems based on production schedules and build requirements.
  • Support T-Scif and RPP build activities across the data center floor.
  • Install cabinets, labeling, and related infrastructure components.
  • Assist with heat containment panel installation and related containment materials.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials for production and installation tasks.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, forklifts, boom lifts, and other approved equipment safely.
  • Perform quality checks on completed work to ensure accuracy and workmanship standards.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Help maintain tool inventory and production supplies.
  • Support safe movement of cabinets and equipment throughout Switch facilities.
  • Follow established safety procedures when working around live power, fiber, and network environments.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors about work progress and issues.
  • Complete assigned LMS training and follow required operational procedures.
  • Support additional production and facility-related tasks as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
  • Clear and direct communication skills.
  • Reliable follow-through and consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-moving operational environment.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, tools, and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Good judgment when handling equipment and completing assigned tasks.
  • Ability to stay focused and organized while managing multiple priorities.
  • Supportive approach to team collaboration and daily operations.
What You’ll Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience in production, facilities, construction support, mechanical assembly, or a related field.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read basic blueprints, layouts, or equipment drawings.
  • Basic computer skills, including email and internal communication tools.
  • Ability to take measurements and complete physical assembly work accurately.
  • Understanding of basic construction and workplace safety practices.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and support heavier equipment moves using approved procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours when operational needs require it.
  • English communication skills sufficient for safety, training, and operational coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in data centers, construction, manufacturing, or facilities environments.
  • Forklift or boom lift experience.
  • Trade school training or related technical certifications.
