Located in Buffalo, New York, our community health clinic is committed to improving the mental and emotional health of individuals, families, and groups. We prioritize collaboration, personal growth, and excellence, and are dedicated to providing a supportive environment for both our clients and employees.

Our organization embraces technology and employs advanced telehealth methods and electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, to facilitate seamless communication and record-keeping. As part of a collaborative team of mental health professionals, you will work closely with psychologists, social workers, and other counselors to ensure comprehensive care for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing mental health evaluations to assess clients' emotional, behavioral, and psychological status.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic techniques suited to each client's unique needs.

  • Document all client interactions meticulously, maintaining accurate records from the initial consultation to the conclusion of treatment.
  • Monitor and evaluate clients' progress throughout their treatment, making necessary adjustments to interventions as needed.
  • Coordinate with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists and physicians, to ensure holistic care for clients, especially those requiring hospitalization.
  • Support family members and caregivers, helping them understand and manage their loved ones’ mental health challenges.
  • Stay current with best practices in psychotherapy, incorporating new methodologies to enhance client care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily serve a diverse clientele, including individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use disorders. Our clients range from children and adolescents to adults and families, each presenting unique challenges that require tailored interventions. Your role is pivotal in fostering a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, ultimately guiding them toward healthier outcomes.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current licensure as an LMFC, LMHC, LCSW, or LCSW-R in New York State is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in telehealth environments, utilizing digital communication tools and EHR systems.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively convey therapeutic concepts and engage clients.
  • Understanding of relevant psychopharmacology and its implications in therapy.
Preferred Experience
  • Two years of experience in a clinical mental health setting providing individual and group therapy.
  • Experience working with clients with dual diagnoses, including mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Familiarity with the standards set by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention strategies and resources available for affected clients.
