Job description

MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL- MUST BE OK WITH TEMPORARY STRIKE WORK- YOU WILL CROSS A PICKET LINE

Welders – All welders are ASME certified.

They will supply all other normal PPE. Some welders will need to wear respirators. (medical clearance form required) Mostly MIG welding. A little TIG and some sub arc machines, also. Most (if not all) of the welders are Lincoln. They need 5-6 welders with stainless steel welding experience (steel to stainless).

Utility welders (U00) are sometimes suspended above the parts to weld. They will be provided harnesses and training. They also use Joey lifts. Also, complex piping patterns welded together. The also do copper – copper, copper – brass, and copper .- steel brazing and use electric wrenches. Most skilled area

Fit and finish (part of the S00 dept.) are the next most skilled area. Fit is the beginning of the process. The frame must be perfectly aligned and true. A lot of attention to detail is required when setting up the fixtures. . If something is just off at the beginning of the process things won’t line up at the end

Gas welders are doing brazing. Copper – copper, copper – brass, and copper – steel. Utility welders are do brazing.

5/16 is thickest in plant 7. Plant 4 has some thick plate that takes multiple passes to fill gaps. Heavy metal welding of all different sub-assembly parts. Thin shell welding in plant 7.

They weld from blueprints and drawings. Each station has a monitor that can pull up all the information.
