esponsibilities
- Operate CNC grinding machines, including surface grinders and cylindrical grinders, ensuring precise material removal according to specifications
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and manufacturing instructions to produce accurate parts
- Program CNC grinders using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and adjust machine parameters for optimal performance
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and calibration devices such as bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments for each job
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), tooling wear, or machine malfunctions
- Conduct quality inspections using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), bore gauges, and other precision tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including shift reports, inspection logs, and machine calibration records
Skills
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as Fanuc or similar control systems
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T principles for precise manufacturing outcomes
- Mechanical knowledge of machining processes, tooling setups, and electrical discharge machining techniques
- Experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or general CAD tools for part review and modifications
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments
- Familiarity with CNC lathe and milling machines as well as plastics injection molding processes is a plus
- Ability to work safely using forklift operation when handling raw materials or finished parts in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency and reduce waste
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality assessments
- Mechanical aptitude combined with strong attention to detail ensures consistent production quality
