Job description

How You'll Make an Impact:

As a Senior Revenue Accountant at Strata,ย you'llย own critical revenue andย accountsย receivable processes for a rapidly growing financial technology company. Reporting to the Accounting Manager,ย you'llย combine technical accountingย expertiseย with analytical rigor to ensure revenue is recognized accurately under ASC 606, reconciliationsย remainย accurate, and our financial close stays efficient as the business scales. Your work directly supports month-endย close, audit readiness, and business decision-making across Finance, Sales, and Operations.

Core Responsibilities:

Revenue & Contract Accountingย 

  • Evaluate customer contracts and collaborate with Sales to ensure Salesforce opportunities map accurately to company revenue recognition policy and ASC 606 requirementsย 
  • Prepare andย maintainย contract deferred revenue schedules,ย as well asย commission accounting and performance obligation trackingย 
  • Record revenue-related journal entries and resolve revenue recognition inquiries from internal stakeholdersย 
  • Build financial analysis and support materials for revenue audits and accounting reviewsย 

General Ledger & Month-End Closeย 

  • Own reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, particularly accounts receivable, contract assets, deferred revenue, and related accrualsย 
  • Prepare andย maintainย recurring journal entries; coordinate month-end close timeline and deliverablesย 
  • Prepare revenue related disclosures for financial reportingย 
  • Support year-end close acceleration and audit readiness efforts, including documentation compilationย and automation projectsย 

Systems & Data Integrityย 

  • Validate Salesforce-to-NetSuite revenue workflows; escalate system issues and recommend process improvementsย 
  • Review revenue arrangements in NetSuite andย compareย toย revenue arrangementsย to ensure proper revenue recognition within NetSuiteย 

Cross-Functional Collaborationย 

  • Partner withย Enterprise Applicationsย onย system automation and integration workย 
  • Support Sales Ops on subscription billing, contract interpretation, and revenue cycle questionsย 
  • Work with Growth and Payroll on commission workย 
  • Contribute to special projects and ad hoc analysis as assignedย ย 

What We're Looking For:ย 

  • Minimum 3 years in public accounting or a corporate accounting environment with demonstrableย expertiseย in ASC 606 revenue recognition or contract accountingย 
  • Solid foundation in GAAP and comfort with balance sheet accounting (AR, deferred revenue, accruals)ย 
  • Advanced Excelย proficiencyย and familiarity with AI toolsย 
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, or similar enterprise systems; comfort learning new tools quicklyย 
  • CPA license, preferredย 
  • Track recordย of spotting inefficiencies and recommending process improvementsย 
  • Experience in SaaS revenue recognition (subscriptions, multi-year contracts, usage-based billing)ย 
  • Experience working in a SOX environmentย 

Estimated Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000
Actual salary will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skill set and level of experience. This salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Strata also provides discretionary variable pay programs based on role.
