About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Community Outreach Liaison to lead employer outreach and awareness for a vital Statewide Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative. This program empowers employers across Rhode Island to create recovery-supportive, stigma-free workplace environments that promote employee well-being and strengthen business outcomes.
As the face of the initiative within the business community, you will build relationships with local employers, deliver impactful presentations, host training sessions, and guide organizations through program certification. This role bridges business development, marketing, public speaking, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Outreach & Marketing
- Conduct direct outreach to employers, business associations, chambers of commerce, and community leaders to drive program adoption and certification.
- Represent the initiative at networking events, trade shows, business mixers, and community forums across Rhode Island.
- Manage the full outreach pipeline: identify prospective employers, conduct introductory meetings, and facilitate certification consultations.
- Maintain complete records of employer engagement and contact management using the program CRM database.
- Collaborate with program leadership to transition qualified leads for technical assistance and formal certification.
2. Education, Training & Facilitation
- Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to business executives, HR managers, supervisors, and employees on workplace wellness, behavioral health, and stigma reduction.
- Facilitate training sessions that promote supportive workplace cultures and employee well-being.
- Assist partner organizations in fulfilling program training requirements and offer continuous educational resources.
3. Communications & Community Engagement
- Gather success stories, photos, and news from field activities for social media, newsletters, and program spotlights.
- Build and sustain strategic partnerships with local chambers of commerce, industry groups, and community health organizations.
4. Program Administration & Reporting
- Track outreach metrics, meeting outcomes, and training statistics within the CRM.
- Prepare weekly and monthly activity summaries, contributing to quarterly program deliverables.
- Assist in organizing statewide recognition ceremonies, learning sessions, and employer summits.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in business development, community outreach, public relations, marketing, or corporate relations.
- Public Speaking: Proven experience delivering presentations, facilitating workshops, or hosting group trainings required.
- Subject Interest/Knowledge: Familiarity with or strong passion for behavioral health, substance use recovery, and workplace wellness initiatives.
- Lived Experience: Lived experience with recovery from substance use disorder and/or mental health challenges is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, AI productivity tools, and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Health, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred (relevant experience strongly valued).
- Mobility & Flexibility: Reliable personal transportation and willingness to travel throughout Rhode Island; flexibility to attend occasional early morning or evening business events.
Work Schedule & Environment
- Hours: Full-time, 25 hours per week.
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid position combining field visits, office time, and remote work.
- Schedule Details: Standard schedule is 4 days on-site/in field with 1 approved Work From Home (WFH) day per week following successful completion of the initial 6-month probationary period.
