Job description

Patient Access Representative

We are looking for a Patient Access Representative to be the first point of contact for patients and assist them in obtaining medical care. The Patient Access Representative's responsibilities include collecting patient details, preparing admission documentation, explaining policies and procedures, and handling patient queries, concerns, and complaints. To be successful as a Patient Access Representative you should be able to perform administrative tasks with high efficiency and always maintain a positive and professional demeanor. Ultimately, a top Patient Access Representative is compassionate and committed to helping people.

Various locations/shifts:

  • Pre-Registration- (Monday- Friday at the Cody Rd. location)
  • Front Registration- (Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays)
  • ER Registration- (Rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays)

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.

Education Requirements:

  • Validation of a High school diploma/GED required.

Patient Access Representative Requirements:

  • Experience in a clerical position preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance plans is beneficial.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Compassionate and patient.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Must be willing to float to different areas of the hospital and/or Cody Rd. to accommodate the business needs of the department and organization.

Patient Access Representative Responsibilities:

  • Greeting patients and their caregivers on arrival.
  • Collecting information such as patient details and insurance information.
  • Preparing patient admission documentation.
  • Entering information into databases and maintaining accurate records.
  • Relaying information to relevant staff members.
  • Providing patients with insurance and payment information.
  • Dealing with patient questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Performing general administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

Education: High School or better.

Experience: Minimum six months hospital registration or related business, as well as working knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Requires excellent customer service experience and demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in order to interact effectively with all customers and co-workers in a variety of situations.
