Job description

Sparrow Company is seeking reliable and customer-focused Event Staff to support operations at events and venues. This position plays a key role in ensuring a positive guest experience by assisting with event setup, breakdown, crowd management, and customer service in a fast-paced environment. This is an as-needed, event-based position ideal for individuals seeking flexible work and supplemental income. The ideal candidate is a team player with strong communication skills, a professional attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist with event setup, including arranging tables, chairs, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist with breakdown and cleanup of event spaces after events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of event areas before, during, and after even
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests, ensuring a positive event experience.
  • Greet patrons and assist with directions to seating, restrooms, concessions, and other areas.
  • Serve as ticket taker or usher, including scanning tickets and distributing programs or wristbands.
  • Assist with event setup, including arranging materials, decorations, and last-minute preparations.
  • Support guests requiring special accommodations, including individuals with disabilities, seniors, and groups.
  • Monitor guest activity and assist with crowd control inside and outside the venue.
  • Maintain awareness of safety procedures and assist during emergencies as needed.
  • Handle guest concerns or disturbances professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Assist with merchandise sales and coordinate with event or tour staff as needed.
  • Distribute promotional materials during entry, throughout the event, or during exit.
  • Provide door checks for guests temporarily leaving the venue.
  • Assist with locating lost items or reconnecting lost children with guardians.
  • Fill in various roles throughout events and provide coverage for team members as needed.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Some assignments may include banquet serving and those will require a valid Food Handler’s license.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions when required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and move throughout the venue for extended periods.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or emergency situations.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
