Job description

We are seeking a Specialist, Business Development (Transactional) to join the firm in our New York office on a hybrid basis. The Specialist will partner with the Assistant Director, Business Development to support business growth and strengthen the firm’s market presence by deepening existing client relationships and helping to identify and pursue new opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • New business generation: Project manage and execute pitches, proposals, and RFPs; collaborate with a team to develop a winning strategy, differentiate from competitors, and assist in writing pitch components. Maintain accountability for timely and accurate submission, document storage, tracking, and post‑submission follow‑up. Keep pitch content, practice materials, client information, and experience tracking up to date.
  • Client targeting and growth: Support the Assistant Director, Senior Manager of M&A, and Global BD Director in identifying targets and appropriate market routes. Assist in spotting cross‑sell opportunities to existing clients and advance campaigns that grow client relationships.
  • Event and engagement management: Plan and execute client events and speaking engagements in collaboration with BD Senior Manager and the global events team. Analyze attendee lists, prepare tailored materials, support attorney follow‑up, and track outcomes in the CRM system for effective event management and client interaction.
  • Operational efficiency & communication: Follow firm guidelines to enhance efficiency, customer service, and employee relations. Develop and communicate departmental procedures, ensure accurate and timely responses to service requests, and demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Manage firm resources responsibly and maintain reliable physical presence as required. Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of firm software (InterAction, Foundation, MS Office including PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and current industry best practices, trends, and techniques.
  • Excellent project‑management skills, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Impeccable attention to detail with superior proofreading and fact‑checking abilities.
  • Professional demeanor, high emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and effective interaction at all levels.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; routinely enhance pitch and proposal content and design.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Deep understanding of the firm’s business, ability to build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Quick learner of new software, systems, databases, and procedures.
  • Capable of working in a demanding, fast‑paced environment; uses discretion and independent judgment.
  • Flexible to travel for events and meetings and adjust hours as needed to meet business requirements.
Education & Experience

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree. Minimum: Three years related experience in a law firm or professional services environment.

Salary

Starting base salary: $100,000 – $115,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
