TITLE: RESEARCH MICROBIOLOGIST

REPORTS TO: MANAGER OF MICROBIOLOGY, QSE

LOCATION: ATLANTA - Client - onsite everyday

Candidate must have their own laptop for this engagement

KEY WORKING PARAMETERS

Scope, & Impact:

• This role belongs to the Corporate QSE team and gives support to E2E Microbiology

• Routine microbiology clearance of ingredients, laboratory and pilot plant samples from Global R&D team based in Atlanta

• Designs and executes microbiology research experiments using traditional and molecular microbiology

• Conducts lab of activities in the R&D Microbiology laboratory in Atlanta

• Designs and execute challenge testing supporting the Global Microbiology SME program

• Coordinates testing with external laboratories and internal customers

Focus Areas:

The following areas define the key focus of the role:

• Microbiology testing: Clearance of ingredients and prototypes from laboratory and pilot plant. Microbiology clearance to prototypes produced by Global R&D teams in Atlanta

• Microbiology experimentation: Research work to support E2E microbiology program. Examples of experimentation work are: Challenge testing, ID of strains ID, validation of alternative rapid methods, development of microbiology methods, development and testing of antimicrobials.

• Operation support for microbiology Lab: Support laboratory activities like media preparation, waste disposal. Keep laboratory SOPs up to date.

KEY SUCCESS PARAMETERS

Experience

• Undergraduate in Microbiology

• Experience in microbiology testing and coordination of laboratory activities

• Strong scientific knowledge in microbiology and design of experiments.

• Proven experience in setting robust experiments; microbial challenge testing, validation of alternative methods, development of methods

• Team player, collaborative and entrepreneur mindset are key skills to work within the microbiology team.

This role gives the opportunity to a junior microbiologist of learning and working with a team of senior and experienced food microbiologist.
