Job description

The Equipment Operator will contribute to a coke-handling team by operating several pieces of equipment that will help move, stockpile, and prepare petroleum coke for distribution.
Here is what you will be doing:
  • Operate any one of the following on a daily basis: a CAT 980 Loader (or equivalent) and a CAT D8 (or equivalent) Dozer
  • Assist the operation with other tasks deemed necessary to meet customer expectations, i.e. maintenance, clean-up, safety observations and inspections
  • Perform thorough pre and post-trip inspections
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment
  • Expand personal knowledge of operating equipment
  • Report maintenance issues to the maintenance crew
  • Understand our critical service requirements and see they are met
  • Take an active role in our safety program including attendance at all safety meetings and ensure safe behaviors
  • Ensure environmental compliance

Requirements of a successful Equipment Operator:
  • Active driver's license
  • Extensive experience operating large pieces of heavy equipment
  • Read, write, speak and understand English
  • Should understand best practices of maintaining and safely operating Heavy Equipment
  • Safety-conscious and understand safe work practices
  • Comfortable with heights including the ability to walk up and down conveyor belt lines and climb ladders
  • Pass a drug screen, possess a current Driver's License and TWIC card at the time of applying

Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:
  • Equipment Operators are routinely required to work outdoors and as a result are exposed to the elements
  • Handle large tools and equipment up to (60 lbs.)
  • Climb on and off equipment
  • Ascend and descend ladders
  • Work shift work, weekends, and holidays
