Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration, commissioning, and first-article build of a custom Ion Beam Deposition (IBD) system. This role will serve as the technical focal point for electrical systems, controls architecture, motion control, power distribution, industrial automation, equipment integration, and system troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with complex industrial equipment involving high-voltage power supplies, RF systems, PLC-based controls, vacuum systems, motion control, and advanced automation technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience developing and commissioning complex industrial equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Industrial electrical power distribution (208 VAC, three-phase systems)
    • PLC programming and troubleshooting
    • Analog and digital control systems
    • Industrial communication protocols
    • Motion control systems and automation
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment startup, integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vacuum systems, semiconductor equipment, thin-film deposition, plasma processing, or material science equipment.
  • Knowledge of RF power systems, high-voltage systems, and process instrumentation.
  • Experience with factory acceptance testing (FAT) and system validation.
  • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
